Terms of Use
Effective October 10, 2026 ยท Terms version 2026-10-10
Courtside is a recreational scorekeeping tool. Scores and statistics are entered by users and may be wrong, delayed or incomplete. Do not use Courtside as the sole basis for betting, wagers, prize payments or financial decisions.
1. Who operates Courtside
Courtside is operated by George Syriannis in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). Contact: gsyriannis@gmail.com. These Terms cover the Courtside website, Android app, casting displays, voice features, messaging and related services. Review the Privacy Policy and Messaging rules before agreeing. Your acceptance is recorded against your Courtside account.
2. Accounts and eligibility
During this beta, personal accounts are intended for people aged 13 or older. If you are below the age of majority where you live, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to use Courtside. Do not create an account for a child under 13. Contact us if a child has provided personal information without the necessary permission. Keep your sign-in secure, use accurate account information and do not impersonate another person. You remain responsible for your account activity except where applicable law provides otherwise.
3. Scores, voice and unofficial results
Courtside does not independently observe, referee, verify or certify games. A saved result, winner card, spoken announcement or cast display is not an official ruling or proof of an outcome. Players and organizers must agree on rules, check results and resolve sporting disputes themselves. Clocks, casting, networking and speech recognition may fail, lag, stop or misinterpret input. Review every voice action and use Undo or manual controls when needed.
Voice control is a beta feature. Its accuracy and availability are not guaranteed. Android hands-free may continue using the microphone when the screen is off until stopped through the app or Android notification. Microphone processing and recognized command text are described in the Privacy Policy and the voice notice shown before activation.
4. Betting, wagers and financial reliance
Courtside does not provide gambling services, betting advice, odds, wager settlement, escrow or guarantees of prizes. You must not treat our scores, statistics, timing, voice output, shared results or other content as an authoritative source for placing, calculating or settling bets, wagers or financial transactions. Independently verify any result. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for betting losses, disputed wagers, lost winnings, prize disputes or other financial losses arising from reliance on Courtside, whether caused by user input, manipulation, a recognition error, delay, outage or inaccurate results. We have no obligation to adjudicate or reimburse a wager.
5. Messages, photos and other content
You retain ownership of your original content. You give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, reproduce, transmit, display and technically adapt content only as needed to operate the features you use, maintain security and enforce these Terms. Creating a public winner link makes its card and result accessible to anyone with the link. You must have the necessary rights and permission to share other people's names, likenesses and content, including guardian permission where required. Sending content does not authorize us to use it in an advertisement. Any promotional use of an identifiable user or their content requires separate permission.
Follow the Messaging rules. Harassment, threats, hate, fraud, impersonation, sexual exploitation, sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate images, unlawful activity and infringement are prohibited. Do not use messaging to organize or promote unlawful gambling. Use Report and Block when needed. We may review reported content, remove offending content, restrict features or suspend accounts to address breaches, legal requirements or security risks. Reporting does not make Courtside an emergency service. Call local emergency services when necessary.
6. Sponsors, advertisements and outside services
We may show clearly identified advertising or sponsored content. A sponsorship does not make a sponsor's product our guarantee. Sponsors are responsible for their own products and offers. Privacy choices govern optional personalized sponsor offers. Third-party services, including Google sign-in, browser speech recognition, casting, radio streams and social platforms, may have their own terms and policies. External availability and performance are outside our control. Any future paid subscription will have its price, billing terms and cancellation details disclosed before purchase.
7. Service and security
We work to protect the service, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation or absolute security. Export or keep a separate copy of important results and plays. Do not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, bypass account or permission checks, scrape personal data, or use automated requests that disrupt other users. Court or legal claims should not rely solely on an app record.
8. Warranties and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Courtside and its beta features are provided as available, without additional contractual warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation. To that same extent, George Syriannis and Courtside's service providers are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, special or punitive losses, including lost profits, revenue, opportunities, data, winnings or goodwill, arising from use of or inability to use Courtside, whether the claim is framed in contract, negligence or otherwise.
To the extent legally permitted, our total aggregate liability for claims arising from Courtside will not exceed the greater of CAD $100 and the amount you paid us for Courtside in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits apply only where enforceable. They do not exclude liability that applicable law prohibits us from excluding, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence where a limitation is prohibited. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer, privacy or other statutory rights or remedies. If a limitation cannot apply to a particular claim or person, the remaining lawful provisions continue to apply.
9. Your responsibility for unlawful conduct
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for third-party claims and reasonably incurred losses directly caused by your unlawful content, infringement of another person's rights or deliberate misuse of the service. This does not require you to compensate us for our own unlawful conduct or waive mandatory rights.
10. Changes, deletion and disputes
You can stop using Courtside and delete your Courtside account and associated data. We may modify features and these Terms. Material changes will be presented for renewed acceptance before affected features are used; they do not retroactively remove accrued rights. Ontario law and applicable Canadian federal law govern, subject to mandatory protections in your home jurisdiction. Ontario courts have jurisdiction except where the law gives you another forum. There is no mandatory arbitration or waiver of class proceedings in these Terms. Contact us first if you wish to raise a concern. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective where lawful.
